The Andean ritual of love
$0.00 / from
In the Andes, love is a sacred bond that unites two people, their spirits, their families, and the surrounding nature. During the emotional ancestral ceremony known as Kasarakuy, the bride and groom celebrate their union by receiving the blessings of Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Mamacocha (the sacred lagoon) in a ritual full of symbolism, spirituality, and tradition.
Held on the shores of the beautiful Piuray lagoon in Chinchero, the ceremony connects human love with the energy of the cosmos, the Apus (mountain spirits), and the earth's fertility. An Andean priest (Paq'o) guides the ceremony, which honors the balance between the masculine and feminine. Offerings to the earth include traditional music, flowers, and coca leaves.
